The promoter of the competition is The City and Guilds of London Institute, 1 Giltspur Street, London, EC1A 9DD (registered charity 312832) (“City & Guilds”).
The winning entries will be chosen within one week after the closing date for all persons who have sent their entries (containing all requirements) by midday 30th October 2009. The competition is for the chance to make over a professional model at an organised photo shoot. The resulting photographs will be used for the front cover of the City & Guilds Beauty Therapy Candidate Logbooks, launching in 2010 (“the prize”). The following terms and conditions apply to the competition:
1. To enter the competition the candidate must have sent a personal profile, a recommendation from their tutor and samples of their work in colour (on a disc or colour printouts) to the address provided.
2. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images submitted have been taken with the express permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws.
3. By entering the competition all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions.
4. Entries will be accepted from 17 August 2009 until midday on 30 October 2009.
5. Only one entry is permitted per person (one entry means a maximum of five photos sent at one time only). Late, illegible, ineligible, incomplete, defaced, or corrupt entries will not be accepted.
6. No responsibility will be accepted for entries which are lost, delayed, misdirected, or corrupted due to any computer malfunction, virus, bug, delay, postal malfunction or other reason whatsoever and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
7. This competition is open only to Beauty Therapy candidates who are qualified at either City & Guilds levels 1, 2 or 3 NVQ, or from institutions offering City & Guilds Beauty Therapy qualifications.
8. The entries will be judged by a staff member at City & Guilds. The winning entries will be those whose submitted images are judged to be the most visually appealing, original, technically proficient and likely to fit with the City & Guilds portfolio of publications. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
9. There will be one winner at each level (one at level 1, one at level 2 and one at level 3). The prize is non-transferrable and no cash alternative is offered.
10. The winners may be required to provide evidence that they are a City & Guilds qualified Beauty Therapy candidate before the photo shoot takes place.
11. City & Guilds will endeavour to notify each winner by phone using the contact number provided within approximately fourteen days of the competition close date. If City & Guilds is unable to contact a winner or the winner does not claim his/her prize within one week of notification, he/she forfeits the prize and another winner will be selected in his/her place.
12. City & Guilds may contact candidates to invite them to submit images for potential inclusion in the body of the 2010 Beauty Therapy logbooks.
13. Each winner agrees that City & Guilds may use his/her name and competition entry details (except for his/her contact telephone number) in any promotional activity following the competition.
14. City & Guilds will own the copyright of all images taken at the photo shoot. City & Guilds may alter, adapt, modify and use the images taken at the photo shoot in any way that it sees fit. City & Guilds will credit each winner as the artist of the make-up look in the relevant logbook.
15. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of City & Guilds, in which case, City & Guilds may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the competition and the entrant agrees that City & Guilds shall not be held liable.
16. City & Guilds reserves the right to amend this competition at any time without notice.
17. English law applies and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts shall prevail.
