Fresh from winning Retail Salon of the Year at the British Hairdressing Business Awards 2008, Jibe's Jason & Elizabeth Brierley speak to us.

How did you feel about winning retail salon of the year?

Winning the award was fantastic achievement for our salon and just goes to so that all the hard work from the team pays off, it has given the team and the salon as a whole a profile which we can all be very proud of.

What do you think makes you stand out from other salons?

Our professional advice and service regarding aftercare that we give to our clients is the most vital factor. Also our staff training regarding product knowledge followed by our staff incentive/commission scheme, which plays a very big part.

You have also previously won Clynol's Salon Design of the Year award. Do you have any tips for others styling their salons?

In designing your salon you need to have a set goal that you want to achieve, this may alter through the build but don't divert too much. Plan with a specific budget worked out and make sure you get the right build or design team in place and let them know the budget you are working to.
